In my previous blog I went over Creating a Contract from an Existing Contract by clicking the Copy Contract button. The other way that you can create a contract is by using the Contract Templates that we made in one of my previous blogs.
For an example I will be creating a contract for a customer who has just purchased a product and is after a repair contract.
Creating a contract based on a contract template
1. In the navigation pane, click Service, and then click Contracts.
2. On the Ribbon, click New.
3. In the Contract Template dialog box, select the template to base the contract on for this I will be selecting the Repair contract we created earlier and click OK.

4. Enter information in the following fields. These are only the required fields.
a. Contract name – “Washing Machine repair contract for Washers r us”
b. Customer - Washers r us
c. Contract start date – 15/05/11
d. Contract end date - 15/08/11
e. Bill to customer - Washers r us
f. Currency – New Zealand Dollar
g. Contract template (for if you picked the wrong one) – REP - Repair
h. Owner – Simon Phillips
5. Click the Details tab.
6. Under Service Level, select the service level for this contract. You can also change the owner of the contract if you want.
7. Click the Notes tab and then click the Add a new note hyperlink. Enter and detailed comments about the contract in the text box.
8. Click Save and Close.

This process for creating a contract is best used for new customer receiving a contract for a product or service that they purchased, or for existing customer wanting a contract for a new product or service that they have purchased or a change in the contract for an existing product or service.
With all this knowledge from my last 2 blogs that I have provided for you, you now know when to create a contract from an existing contract, or from a template.
